Every year we hire musicians to play at our Holiday Shindy, they stroll throughout the space playing minstrel-style acoustic music adding a level of magic to the event.

I first met Elena Erber of The Pamelech Klezmer Orkester at a Sweater Chop Shop at Kripalu.  She was the Creative Director there and enrolled as a student.  As her instructor, it was plain to see, that she was going places with the process I was teaching!  Since those first few days creating together we have become good friends sharing many interests from wool and handwork to an eclectic taste of music.  While she is a talented player, I am an only an appreciator.  With that in mind, it is so exciting to have her on the docket on Saturday, December 8 from 10-2pm for The Shindy. She might even have a couple of her band members with her.  Either way we are in for a real treat!

Elena came to help me in my booth at the Dutchess County Sheep and Wool Festival last month and brought her music along.  People were stopped in the aisle enjoying her festive, skilled, accordion playing.  It was a wonderful setting for to combine her valuable skill set with mine.  If you love Klezmer music and supporting all manner of regional artisans come to The Shire City Sanctuary Holiday Shopping Shindy on December 8 from 10-2pm.  The event runs Friday, December 7th 5-8pm, and Saturday and Sunday, December 8 & 9 from 10-6 both days.
