Weekly Theme- Recommitment

Thinking about Recommitment has me carefully considering what aspects of this forced slowing are worthy of carrying forward.

We are blessed with this time of a slowing pace.  A time to evaluate and then recommit to things that serve and nurture us.

Can you step outside the fear and anxiety coming at us from all directions to see what I mean?

I hope so.

Are you like me and normally feel rushed?  Have you felt like each day would be better with a few more hours?

I often joke that if we could add an extra day to each week that it would help me get my lists accomplished.

Thinking about Recommitment has me carefully considering what aspects of this forced slowing are worthy of carrying forward.

Spending time with my husband and kids having fun doing life things like cooking, cleaning, and making art is worthy of recommitment.  Helping my knows-how-to-do-everything hubby get our ‘new’ home organized, beautiful, comfy and FINISHED is totally worthy of recommitment. Oh, and gardening, gardening which is my hearts delight and souls connection is so worthy of long overdue recommitment.

Being mindful and aware of how my time is spent and using it wisely to create joy is where all this consideration has placed me.  And you know what?  That is kinda like right where I am.  I feel like I have been given that extra day a week.  During this unplanned isolated time we have a gift to go deep and find our path forward.

It is clear that my path includes a deep passion and renewed confidence to make change in the world through creative textile recycling.  See, right now Crispina’s Scrapbox Challenge 2020 is underway.  There are 50+ contestants out there, all across the world, using their creative prowess to come up with something marvelous made from a box of textile-recycling studio scrap. I am witnessing daily magic as contestants send images of their process, bounce ideas off each other in our private facebook group, and open their minds to creating beauty with what many would have imagined was just trash.

So today, and for the untold future, I am recommitting to spreading the empowerment, healing, stress and anxiety relief that creative textile recycling provides.  Recommitting to using this creative process to help people; to understand, see and take action to address the desperate need our biosphere is displaying for balance.

The focus on our current state of affairs with COVID-19 wreaking global havoc, undermines all the beauty coming into view.  The beauty I am seeing of is the clearer air over China, the cleaner waters around Venice, the realization that we can all do better with a lot less - comfortably, and I am seeing online communities coming together to show support where it is needed from masks to homeschooling.

So are you ready to recommit to human resiliency and the collective general good?  Are you ready for this wake-up call to do just that, wake us up? Don’t go back to sleep.  I am excited.

With that all said, scroll down and leave a comment with something you are recommitting to and then come back around and learn all about #CrispinaScrapbox2020 with our next post introducing contestants with their unboxing imagery – Wow! This is fun, powerful and nurturing.
