Journal - 06.19.20

Do you have a day, or week that holds a lot of significance for you?  In our family there is a week in mid December and today, June 19.

Today is the birthday of a dear friend, my sister/partner in crime’s birthday, our parents’ wedding anniversary, my rescued Goldendoodle, Sadie turns 11 today and today is Juneteenth – the celebration commemorating the end of slavery in 1865 when Union soldiers finally reached Texas two and a half years after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Today I am constructing the Stitch-A-Long collaboration in preparation for our online auction.  I am thinking about the women who have contributed to this project and remembering the the enslaved women who quilted, not often to reap the warmth and comfort of their creations.
I am thinking of the women in our local shelter right now who have our support with this warmth and comfort.  Visit my blog in the coming days to learn more about this 'Stitch-A-Long' project.
