First Foundation of Embraceable Living

Hydrate - Drink Water

All this living on planet Earth in the year 2020 gets overwhelming unless we pay careful attention to keeping the negativity at bay.

Let me first tell you that it is possible to find joy and let the overwhelm go.  Not to sound to oconspiracy theorist but it does seem to me that if the general public is ridden with fear and anxiety we are limited in our ability to make positive change.  The act of feeding fear, anxiety, or not enough-ness steals our power.

Anyone who has ever parented a picky eater knows, you cannot force feed a person, but I digress.

For my own sanity I have compiled a system that helps me feel empowered, upbeat, positive and able to delve in deep to making global shift happen in the wild world of textile waste recycling.

This simple self-care system I call The 5 Foundations of Embraceable Living.  I believe that before we can address any exterior issues we need ot take care of ourselves in a way that nurtures, empowers, allows, and protects us from the barrage of downers that come at us with ever increasing momentum, if we let it.

Today we are focusing on the first of my 5 Foundations – Hydration.

Drink Water.

It is proven that optimal hydration increases attention span, improves mood and outlook, and allows our bodies to function most healthfully.  My recommendation is to drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water each day.  Ifyou are like my husband and really don’t like the idea of drinking plain old wateryou can add a lemon squeeze, cucumber slice, mint leaf, apple wedge, or handfulof berries to make your beevy more palatable.

Please DO NOT drink bottled water.

Studies show that bottled water quality pales in comparison to most tap water.  If you like in aplace that heavily chlorinates you can address that nastiness by letting yourfilled water jug sit overnight – allowing chlorine to evaporate leaving yourdrinking water much tastier.

If your tap water quality is questionable, there are a ton of water filters available from systemic systems that filter all the waterflowing through your household taps to filtering bottles.

My recommendation is an under-sink Seagull filter which ismade without plastic parts (all stainless steel).

While we are on the subject of water and plastic – try to avoid that combination.  You should knowthat any plastic drinking vessel off-gases toxicity into its contents.  Glass or stainless steel drinking bottles aresafe and accessible – oh and bio-degradable when you are long gone.

So hydrate.  Consuming half your body weight in ounces of water each day will help you feel great.  Feeling great is, well great!
