Crispina's Scrapbox Challenge 2020

#CrispinaScrapbox2020

Hey!

So I hear ya, you love fondle textiles and be creative, to connect with like-minded awesome people, you want to be a solutionary when it comes to our climate challenges, MAYBE you thrive with a little fire lit under yer butt AND you LOVE a little completion and to WIN cool stuff.

PEEK-A-BOO!

You are in the right place!

Let’s address all of these topics while having a whole bunch of fun with Crispina’s Scrapbox Challenge 2020. The only cost involved is a $10 application fee.

APPLY HERE

The thing is that there is a limited amount of scrap.  The last Scrapbox Challenge generated so much interest that we spent two solid days making scrap (ahh defeating the purpose!).  I was totally blown away by the level of interest and didn’t have the foresight to mention any sort of limit when making the offer so this time around there is an application process.  This time we are a whole lot more organized and there are PRIZES!

 Read On!

Anyone can enter. Kids to professional artists are encouraged to apply.  Collaborations welcome.  Entrants will be chosen at random from the pool of applicants limited only by the volume of scrap available.

Entrants will be shipped a breadbox sized package full of textile waste from my studio.  Boxes include a random mix of bits and pieces of fabrics we are not using.  Sweater scraps, upholstery, denim, maybe some corduroy, even some velvet, silk and a sequin or two might be in there - mostly natural fiber - a real random mix.

This is a competition with some awesome sauce prizes.  The idea is to turn the box we send you in the mail full of what some people might think is garbage into something awesome, something artful, useful, or both. We will help you use your creative ingenuity to think outside the (scrap)box and rock the cyberwaves by documenting your process and spreading the word of creative textile recycling.

Winners will be chosen by online voting and prizes are listed below.

Entrants can add up to 3 materials that are not included in the box.  Added materials can include thread, yarn, an additional recycled fabric item, beads, buttons, a zipper, you get the idea.  You can add pretty much any three things to your supplies for this challenge. Bonus points given if all the scrap is used.

Applicants agree to document their process with photos and/or a video of no more than 3 minutes in length and submit imagery on our schedule, to be shared online.

Images of the following are required:

1.     Picture of you Unboxing

2.     Any added materials

3.     3 images of making process (include at least one image with you in it)

4.     3 images of finished piece on white background, naturally lit, for online voting
