For the last two weeks I have been back running. For many years I ran at least 5 days a week. I ran until I was nearly 6 months pregnant with Lucy and took a break. My pace is not fast or competitive. My lungs get full and muscles challenged. My mind gets clear.
This summer was anxious, filled with tears, despair, bad news, and powerlessness. In response, I have reduced my connection to social media and the news. Been working on developing habits to help me avoid depression. My focus inward, on family, healthy food, and exercise. Hoping that building a workable routine will nurture this focus. Helpful in my work is an app called Overdrive. Its free and allows access to audio and ebooks from your bricks and mortar library. Right now I am listening to The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. It is powerful and recommended.
Oh and I learned to knit this summer. A meditative relaxing ritual to combat world's ills.
Now, Back to making, Cutting blanket squares for heavy production these next few weeks. Stay tuned.
