After 18 months of planning my husband Chris, daughters, and I have arrived in Kinvara, Co. Galway Ireland where we will be based for the next four and a half months.
My sister and I are blessed to own the home where we are staying. Our parents bought it in 1983 when my Irish grandma passed away. As high school art teachers they were able to spend their summers here. Since they have passed away my sister I and rent it out when we are not using it through Air BnB.
In the last 24 hours we traveled here from my husband’s childhood home in Becket Massachusetts on a hilltop in the forest where we live at a breakneck pace with our menagerie. We love it there.
We decided to take this hiatus for a few reasons not the least of which is to take an opportunity to regroup as a family and reset our mission; to cherish our time and celebrate adventure. When we were planning we hadn’t realized the impeccable timing of getting out of the country as the US government transitions into what is still unknown but what looks worrisome to me.
So here, we start our adventure – come back often to see what unfolds.
